High Holiday Schedule

We have regular classes on Sunday Oct 2 & Wednesday Oct 5

I want to make sure all of you know what’s happening through the entire holiday period:

1.Rosh Hashanah –
There is no Talmud Torah on Wednesday Sept 28
Thurs & Fri Sept 29-30 – Services on the first and second days for pre-school through 2nd grade are at 10 AM in Schurgin B & C; for 3rd-6th grades are at 11 also in Schurgin B & C; discussion for grades 7-12 on the first day only is at 11 in the Youth Lounge

2. Yom Kippur – Oct 8 (Shabbat) pre-school through 2nd grade are at 10 AM in Schurgin B & C; for 3rd-6th grades are at 11 also in Schurgin B & C; discussion for grades 7-12 is at 11 in the Youth Lounge. Family Service is at 6: 15 PM in Schurgin B & C followed by the shofar blowing in the main sanctuary.

3. There is no Talmud Torah on Sunday Oct 9

4. On Wednesday Oct 12 we have an early dismissal into the Sukkah for our annual Sukkot Under the Stars – bring your own pareve or dairy dinner & we’ll supply drinks & dessert (rsvp to Renee at 602-944-3359 ext 113)

5. There is no school on Wed, Oct 19

6. Simchat Torah – Thurs night, Oct 20 is our annual presentation to all our first graders (Kitah Alef – Aliza’s class) – students receive certificates and mini-Torah scrolls and are invited to dance with the Torahs

Our new system is up and running! We are adding new classes and by mid-October, grades 3-6 will all be on-line. Students registered in Talmud Torah can make up missed classes by going on-line during class hours and participating or by using the recorded class sessions to keep up with their classmates. Participating in the live classes and watching the recorded classes (and doing the homework assignment counts towards class attendance. Parents of students registered in Talmud Torah should have received a link via email as soon as their child’s class is up and running. Only students registered in a particular grade (and their parents) have access to that grade. For instructions of how to log on, please read WizIQ Instructions

Registration for Talmud Torah for the 2011-2012 school year has now begun. If you have a child currently enrolled, you will receive and email in late May with a partially filled out registration form – please send us an email with any changes or let us know that the information is current – that will serve as your registration. If you prefer, you can fill out a new form. Children who are 4 years old and will be attending kindergarten in August 2012 as well as children who will be in kindergarten in August 2011 are welcome in our Mechinah class. Our Westside High classes for students in grades 9-12 continues to meet on Sunday afternoons from 12:30 – 2:30. It’s time for a Purim Mitzvah – Mishloach Manot

Giving mishloach manot is a way to share fun and food for Purim. We make it easy for you – we prepare the mishloach manot and have the bags ready for pick-up on Purim. The bags come with a colorful card letting each of our Beth El families know who is sending them greetings. Everyone in the congregation has a bag. The cost is quite reasonable – you can send a greeting to the whol congregation for $118, to Talmud Torah families only for $72 and to individuals for $5 per name!
